Description

Really an experiment. I haven't tried imaging from my backyard in a long time, as there a no real horizons and it's difficult to get an alignment, let alone a polar alignment. I trimmed some trees yesterday and I have a passable southern exposure (that's it), so I tried this deep-sky favorite.

I used the William Optics GTF-81 again, it's got a little more reach than my Sky Watcher Equinox (which I think I will indeed keep as fast, wide-field scope, grab and go, etc.).

But I also got the dreaded egg-shape stars here. I have the focuser racked out about 7 cm and that's probably the source right there. I've got an OAG on the way, though, a Starlight Xpress model designed to attach to my filter wheel (a Starlight Xpress model). I had to use Photoshop to fix the stars - to make this presentable. It's okay at low-res, but I'll be coming back to the Horse and hope to do better with it next time.
